The Coalition against Morbid Obesity, a Quebec-based non-profit organization, relies on the strength of association to increase awareness of the problem of morbid obesity and to promote better access to bariatric surgery in Quebec.

Weighting to die
Our tagline "Weighting to die" reflects the dramatic situation experienced by morbidly obese people. True to real life, morbid obesity does speed up the fatal outcome for these patients who will literally "die while waiting" to be treated.

More than 400,000 Quebecers suffer from morbid obesity
Morbid obesity, which is the most extreme form of obesity, leads to serious and often fatal health problems.

There is a solution: bariatric surgery
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), bariatric surgery is considered to be the most effective treatment against morbid obesity.

Waiting lists are interminable
In Québec hospitals, thousands of Quebecers have been on the waiting list for bariatric surgery for several years. This is unacceptable!
